WHERE TO RECYCLE: Ag Plastics (Ag Containers)
The
County of Stettler supported Cleanfarms in collecting agricultural plastic containers (up to 23L) at local transfer sites and the regional landfill as part of a transition program that has now come to an end. This change follows a 2021 Provincial Agricultural Service Board Resolution that shifts responsibility for this recycling program to Agricultural Retailers/Dealers. The resolution
highlights better outcomes in provinces where retailers manage collection—such as higher rinse compliance and fewer issues with contamination and illegal dumping.
To support this transition, the County kept our collection sites open as long as possible. As of January 1, 2025, container collection will no longer be available at the following locations:
- Erskine Transfer Site
- Byemoor Transfer Site
- Gadsby Transfer Site
- Big Valley Transfer Site
