Westbridge Renewable Energy is proposing to construct a 225 megawatt (MW) solar energy generating facility and 100 MW battery storage system over portions of Sections 3, 10, 11 and 12 in Township 40 Range 18. This area is east of the Hamlet of Red Willow and on the south side of Highway 601.
As the proponent of the project, Westbridge Renewable Energy must first obtain approval from the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) and then obtain a development permit approval from the County of Stettler. The AUC approval process requires a public involvement program hosted by Westbridge Renewable Energy before they send their application to the AUC.
The County of Stettler encourages interested landowners and parties to participate in the public involvement program being undertaken by Westbridge Renewable Energy.
Details about the project, opportunities for public involvement and the AUC approval process can be found on their website at www.westbridge.energy/red-willow-solar-pv/ or by contacting Trevor Joyal, Senior Technical Advisor - Engagement Lead at 403-589-4156 or RedWillow@maskwaenv.com.
